How do you become a member?
NOTE: The only real difference between a church family member and a non-member is that members are allowed to vote in church family decisions; AND that they submit themselves to the leadership and authority of the Eldership, the shepherds of the flock.
New members should try to be familiar with the names of church employees and volunteer leaders, such as Ministry Leaders (volunteer coordinators.) This helps new members connect with church leadership and increases their familiarity and comfort levels, which ultimately enables them to connect, as well as to find how they can help.
-
You publicly proclaim (in front of your church family) that Jesus is the Christ, is the Messiah, is the only begotten (one and only) son of God, and that you have accepted Him as your personal Lord and Savior.
-
That you believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, that He was fully God and Fully Man, and He lived, was crucified (died), taking our sins to the cross, and that He defeated death, rose from the grave (lives), and gives all who believe, the gift of eternal life.
-
As an outward expression of your faith, you are baptized (fully immersion), in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, for the remission of your sins. Note: If you have already been baptized at an age that you understand your actions and are able to understand your admission of faith, then you do not have to be re-baptized because you are not baptized into a specific church family, you are baptized into the bride of Christ.
-
You understand and accept Shelton Christian Church's Mission, Vision, Values, and Statement of Faith.
-
You place yourself(s) under the authority of Jesus Christ, and the men who are under Jesus as shepherds (elders) of the flock, who serve in humbleness with fear and trembling.
